Challenge:
When Congress passed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in 2009, billions of dollars became available to help states fund energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives. For Colorado, it was an extraordinary opportunity to strengthen the state's energy economy and create green jobs. For The1stMovement, and traditional agency partner, Vladimir Jones, this assignment provided the opportunity to partner on one of Colorado’s highest profile communications initiatives for 2010 and beyond.
The Governor's Energy Office (GEO) needed to rebrand its existing Website to integrate energy efficiency rebates now available to the people of Colorado from government, industry and non-profits. Branded "Recharge Colorado," the site was architected to primarily inform the public about Recovery Act rebates. Additionally, the site was designed to serve as a clearinghouse for energy efficiency, making a wealth of information about GEO programs, energy policy and legislation easy to access and use.
As lead digital agency for this fully integrated campaign, we were responsible for concept and delivery of all design, development, hosting and maintenance. The project required a high level of collaboration with the Governor's office team members and strategic partners across call center services and database integration.
Results:
The Recharge Colorado Website offers an up close and personal interactivity rarely found in sites with this level of complexity. For example, the Energy Action Planner gives consumers the tools necessary to locate and store information about money-saving rebates, energy-saving tips and contractors. Social media is integrated throughout the site offering 1:1 communications options and the ability to join groups. A unique partnership with the Better Business Bureau gives users access to a database of energy contractors, enhancing the value of the site to far more than a static experience.
In the two months following the Website launch, the Governor's Energy Office issued nearly 30,000 rebates, sparking retail sales and jobs for contractors. This ultra successful campaign has truly made a difference in the lives of the Colorado people.
